Each year, Harmon Electric Association, Inc. chooses two high school students to send to the Touchstone Energy Leadership Summit in the month of January. These students are given the opportunity to broaden their leadership skills and to interact with like-minded peers from across the state. Each teen who attends the Saturday morning, Touchstone Energy-sponsored leadership program also takes home a $250 college scholarship and has an opportunity to win an additional $1,000 scholarship.
Oklahoma's rural electric cooperatives first launched the Touchstone Energy Leadership Summit in 2000 to help prepare students to become effective leaders and challenge them to take on important roles in their communities. Each participating co-op sponsors two high school seniors to attend the annual training.
